Isaiah (part 2) - lesson 30

Notes about the covenant of peace (the new covenant). A covenant is a solemn binding agreement. A covenant can not be broken.

We see that God makes an everlasting covenant with David and his descendants 2 Sam. 7:8-9 (time can not exhaust it).

God promises to defend David and his descendants against their enemies 2 Sam. 7: 10-12.

God promises to be a father and bring discipline to David's son 2 Sam. 7:13-16.

The covenant of peace comes out of these terms.

This new covenant is a covenant worth celebrating.

It is a hesed (God's loving kindness) of the Lord.

It is a covenant of expansion and growth.

This covenant includes protection.

This is a lasting covenant.

This is a everlasting covenant.

Peace that God offers in the form of a covenant to His people. This covenant is not for the wicked. It is for those that call upon Him and seek Him. It is for him who joins himself to the Lord. Notice in chapter 56 the covenant of peace that brings healing is for those that we may not have expected. What wonderful grace from God.
