Isaiah (part 2) - lesson 17

This lesson touches on Isaiah 48 and challenges us that trials test us for our authenticity.

As we go into chapter 48 we see that God is talking to His covenant people (most specifically in this passage the southern kingdom). But these next few verses show us that not all are authentic believers. Only in name but they are described as obstinate, rebel from birth and we see that in verse 9 that God delays His wrath (not because they don't deserve it) but for His names sake. God is delaying His judgement for His perfect purpose. What a beautiful reminder that God's timing is perfect and He is trustworthy.

God brings us to maturity as He shows us our total dependence on Him today. He allows us to go through situations and circumstance as an opportunity demonstrate our growing faith. We need to respond in obedience and submission to Him. We are to turn to God. Listen to God. Rely on God.
